2nd meeting of RSAHC to convene soon

TEHRAN – Iran’s Ports and Shipping Organization (PSO) will host the second meeting of the Ropme Sea Area Hydrographic Commission (RSAHC) soon.

The conference is to focus on the enhancement of the cooperation between the Ropme sea area-member states on issues such as hydrographic data collection, ratification of the RSAHC charter by the member countries, production of the hydrographic atlases and up to date maps of the seas, offering trainings and technical assistances in compliance with the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) guidelines, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) said here on Saturday.

ROPME Sea Area (sometime in the past referred to as the Kuwait Action Plan Region) is the sea area surrounded by the eight Member States of ROPME: Bahrain, I. R. of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Regional Conference was convened in Kuwait back in 1978.

The meeting, to be attended by representatives of the member states as well as the UK and in collaboration with the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) will be held in Tehran, Iran, from 2-3 May 2006.
